Yosemite - first night

Our last minute plans to go to Yosemite resulted in us leaving late on a Friday afternoon from Berkeley and so getting caught in traffic on our way to Yosemite. Just before leaving, we called to try and book some accommodation. All we could get was a tent-cabin in Curry Village. We thought it sounded fine. When we got there late at night, we were horrified to find out just how crowded Yosemite really can be. We subsequently discovered that Curry Village is the worst. The tent cabins were jam packed next to each other (our neighbours were about 1m away) and the massive parking lot was full... not at all what we were used to.

We had been very excited about coming to Yosemite. So far this was not the relaxing wilderness experience we were expecting and we found it quite upsetting. The canvas walls made it seem like the occupants of the 3 nearest tents were all in the same room with you. We had to listen to the inane chatter from the neighbours all night long. For example, a bunch of guys in the cabin on our right had a 30 min conversation about shaving their balls... I am not kidding. It was a pretty unpleasant night and we were pretty grumpy the next morning when we woke up.
